Gestalt Labs (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates the Subo app. Your privacy is important to us, and we remain committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains what information Subo collects, how it is stored, and how it is used.
What Information We Collect
Subo is designed to keep your subscription data private. We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or track you across apps and websites. The subscription information you add to Subo, such as subscription names, prices, renewal dates, notes, categories, payment methods, reminders, and cancellation status, is stored locally on your device. If iCloud sync is enabled, this data may also be stored in your private Apple iCloud account. We do not operate a Subo server for your subscription data, and we do not have access to your private iCloud data.
Optional Analytics
Subo includes optional anonymous analytics to help improve the app’s design, reliability, and features. Analytics are off by default and can be enabled or disabled in Subo’s privacy settings. When enabled, Subo uses TelemetryDeck, a privacy-friendly analytics service, to collect basic product interaction data. This may include events such as app launches, onboarding progress, feature usage, paywall interactions, settings views, widget openings, and similar app interaction events. These analytics events may include basic technical context such as app version, build number, major iOS version, device family, broad region, language, and broad user tenure. TelemetryDeck may also use a pseudonymous device or app identifier and session information for analytics. Subo does not send subscription names, prices, renewal dates, notes, payment methods, category names, brand search queries, selected brand names, iCloud identifiers, Core Data identifiers, purchase outcomes, product IDs, transaction IDs, or revenue data to analytics. Analytics are not used for advertising, tracking, or profiling. If analytics are disabled, Subo does not send analytics events.
Data Storage & Sync, Third-Party Services, Brand Search and Logos
Data Storage & Sync
Subo stores your subscription data:
- Locally on your device using Apple’s Core Data.
- Optionally via Apple iCloud, if you enable iCloud syncing.
All iCloud storage is managed by Apple through your Apple account. We have no access or visibility into your personal iCloud data.
Third-Party Services
Subo uses the following third-party services:
- Apple iCloud / CloudKit: Used for optional private sync through your Apple account.
- TelemetryDeck: Used for optional anonymous product analytics, only when enabled by the user.
- Open Exchange Rates: Used for fetching currency exchange rates. Subo does not send your subscription names, prices, renewal dates, notes, or payment methods to Open Exchange Rates.
- Brandfetch Brand API: Used to search for brands and retrieve brand logos, colors, and related public branding information. When you search for a brand or select a brand result, the search text or selected brand domain may be sent to Brandfetch so the app can show matching brand information and logos.
- Typeform or similar external forms: Used for optional surveys, feedback, beta signups, or support forms. If you choose to submit information through these services, that information is processed by the respective service according to its own privacy policy.
Brand Search and Logos
Subo uses Brandfetch to help search for brands and load brand logos, colors, and related public brand information. This data is used to provide the brand search and logo feature in the app. Subo does not send your subscription prices, renewal dates, notes, payment methods, or other personal subscription details to Brandfetch.
Third-Party Trademarks and Logos, Analytics & Tracking, How We Use Data
Third-Party Trademarks and Logos
Subo includes logos, colors, and names of popular subscription services to provide familiar templates. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any of these companies. All trademarks belong solely to their respective owners.
Analytics & Tracking
Subo does not use analytics for advertising, tracking, or profiling. We do not use the advertising identifier, ad networks, attribution SDKs, or data brokers. Optional analytics are used only to understand how the app is used and how it can be improved. Analytics are off by default and can be changed at any time in Subo’s privacy settings.
How We Use Data
We use data only for the following purposes:
- To provide core app functionality, including local storage, iCloud sync, brand search, logos, and currency conversion.
- To improve Subo’s design, reliability, and features through optional anonymous analytics.
- To respond to support requests or feedback you voluntarily send.
Legal Basis, Your Rights (GDPR), Data Retention
Legal Basis
For optional analytics, the legal basis is your consent. You can enable or disable analytics in Subo’s privacy settings at any time. For core app functionality, such as storing your subscriptions locally, syncing through iCloud, fetching brand information, and retrieving exchange rates, the legal basis is providing the app functionality you request. For support or feedback you voluntarily send, the legal basis is responding to your request.
Your Rights (GDPR)
Depending on where you live, including if you are in the European Economic Area, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal data, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. You can disable analytics at any time in Subo’s privacy settings. If you have privacy-related questions or requests, please contact us at the email address below.
Data Retention
Subscription data remains on your device and, if enabled, in your private Apple iCloud account until you delete it or remove the app data. Optional analytics data is retained by TelemetryDeck according to TelemetryDeck’s retention and privacy practices. Brand search and logo requests are handled by Brandfetch according to Brandfetch’s retention and privacy practices. Feedback or support information you voluntarily submit may be retained as long as needed to respond to your request and improve Subo.
